Professionally, I have been a software engineer for way too long. However, it has been a rewarding and an interesting career at times. Several times I’ve thought about perusing the music business. Unfortunately, I probably would not continue to live at my current life style if I changed careers. A friend of mine once warned me about the music business. His name is Doug Datwyler. Since Doug played guitar for the Commodores and he can kick my butt on the guitar I decided to keep my job as an engineer. Made with Xara © 2000 - 2010 Michael Yardley, Inc. Music is a real passion in my life. There was always music in my home when I was growing up. I was fortunate to hear a wide range of music that evolved from the 60s to the 80’s.When I was about 10 years old my parents put me in music school to learn the guitar. I was instantly hooked on playing rock & roll. It wasn’t long before I started playing songs by Zeppelin, the Beatles, Crosby Stills Nash, Hendrix, Santana, the Eagles and many others. It has been a long time since I’ve started playing guitar and I still find myself striving to be a better musician. Self improvement seems to be a life long journey. It’s unfortunate that musicians today are noticed more for what they “look like” instead of what they “sound like”. The real talent out there has suffered long enough. If you can’t play the guitar better than me … step aside. I want to hear the pros.
What do these musicians all have in common?

I’ve been asked a few times if there were any guitar players that I would like to meet. So I came up with a list of a few great guitarists that I would like to meet. Not for an autograph or a picture. Nor to tell them how good they are. I'm sure they get enough of that abuse from all the groupies out there. This is my list of guitar players that I would like to learn a few guitar tricks from: Carlos Santana, Tommy Shaw (Styx), Don Felder (Eagles), David Gilmore (Pink Floyd), Phil Collen (Def Leppard), Eric Clapton, Mark Lee (Third Day) , Joe Perry (Aerosmith), Angus Young (ACDC) , Jesse Cook, Neal Schon (Journey) , Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Robin Trower, Eddie Van Halen, and … Stevie Ray Vaughan. I could have also added BB King to the list ... but I already met him on his “House of Blues” tour.
Stevie Ray Vaughn - Cross Fire Carlos Santana - Victory Is Won
The Eagles - Hotel California
Eric Claption - White Room
